Why install a Showerdome ?
Everybody deserves an easy to clean, low maintenance bathroom and a healthy home. Shower steam prevention is an important part to achieving this
Once steam is formed, no matter how good your extractor fan, the steam will condense on the walls and ceilings. This provides a damp environment which will

What is a Showerdome?
The showerdome is made of a clear acrylic which sits unobtrusively on top of the shower. It has a dome shape to allow plenty of head room
What do showerdomes do?
A Showerdome will make your bathroom steam free by stopping shower steam from forming. This stops all the cleaning and maintenance issues created by a damp bathroom.
How do showerdomes Work?
A comparison is your steamy breath on a cold day.
When you breathe out your breath does not become steamy until it hits the cold air several inches from your mouth. In the shower because the warm air cannot escape it cannot come in contact cold air or walls and condense. Like your mouth because the shower is all the same temperature there is no steam inside it.
Will a showerdome fit my shower?
There are a 12 different shaped and sized showerdomes plus a wide variety of extrusions which allow most showers to be fitted with a showerdome.

Do TradeSkills supply the showerdome and extrusions for DIYs
Yes we do but we recommend you use an experienced installer.
Showerdomes require cutting and shaping to fit the shower it is being used for. When you fit the showerdome yourself if the showerdome cracks while being cut or drilled or does not fit properly it is your responsibility.
Showerdomes for Motels, Hotels, Backpackers and Guest Accommodation
We have installed them in a wide range of commercial accommodation situations, and found it a great way to advertise the product. People use them and at once appreciate how good they are, they then decide to have one installed in their own properties

Are showerdomes proven to work in Northland?
Northlander Gerald who co-owns TradeSkills was approached to use his company as nationwide showerdome installers. Frustrated with the constant damage to his own bathrooms from condensation he decided to do a showerdome trial . Sceptical as usual he wanted to see if they actually worked prior to becoming involved with them. His three teenagers provide a real test to most things especially bathrooms.
After three teenage morning showers the large, main bathroom would drip with condensation and never really dried out during the day. The paint cracked and small flying bugs would stick to the ceiling. Mould would appear on the aluminium and paint work which the kids never noticed so never cleaned.
The shower dome stopped this completely. The best thing according to Gerald was, "as I work from home I had the last shower in the morning. There was never enough hot water. The shower being so much warmer with the dome on meant the kids ran the shower colder and I got to have a hot shower! "
The showerdome in the en suite has also made a huge difference. Although the showers were not nearly as long or hot, the smaller en suite would get quite damp which was not good for the nearby walk in wardrobe or bedroom. We could also close and lock the windows knowing we would not come back to a musty bathroom.
The result was so good that TradeSkills has now installed 1,000s of showerdomes from Dunedin to the Bay of Islands. We have installed showerdomes into commercial properties ranging from motels,hotels, and backpackers. Most of our showerdome installation go in to resdential properties.
